NOVEMBER CLASSMATE NEWS: . This
is the month of the big bird! And the candied yams, cranberry sauce, dressing, mashed potatoes, giblet gravy, green bean cassarole,
pumpkin pie, peas, hot rolls and, if you can catch enough of those little minces, a mincemeat pie! . But mostly it's a time for thanks giving. There are so many things
to be thankful for that I can't possibly list all of them. I do know that I'm very thankful for the good friends and
classmates who do much to encourage me in this thing called life. Thank you, each and every one. . Joy Cole (Lossee) is soon on her way to Egypt for a long tour and probably a few camel rides. If she's not back
by December 15, I'll need four or five of you to help me form a rescue squad! Have fun girl, and stay away from the Nile... . David Neilson was the first classmate to write in respomse to my request
for news, questions, etc. on the main webpage. His email: Jerry, . I think an informal get-together as you mentioned would be a great
idea. Hopefully some of the people who couldn't make the reunion would be able to come back for the day. I would like
getting back to see the town at least once a year, along with some of the people. . I also would like the monthly newsletter. Maybe you could keep those of us who aren't in Asheville anymore up to
date on what's going on in town. And, hopefully, some will contribute news of what is going on with them.
DAVID
.
So you Asheville
people will have to keep me posted with goings on so I can place it in the this newsletter. . My second write in was from Rod Weinburg who says: . Hi Jerry!
The
idea for a one day get together is certainly a good one. But it would be difficult for people who live at a great distance to come for a one day event so it would be more of a local gathering.
I will be looking forward to the next
weekend gala. I still am savouring our reunion from this past June!
Take care and best wishes for the holidays!
Rod . FINALLY! I get a couple of thoughts on a May picnic. We are talking
about the third weekend in May. For the out of town people, you could plan on coming for 3 or 4 days, there are still lots
of people to visit. We'll keep you posted. . .And, from the website first page for yhose of you who didn't read it there: . We did have a little money
left over. I'll be writing a $1,000.00 check to the school Alumni Association to be given in the Class of 1960's name. . . November 7,2010 . I received A
very nice letter from The Asheville Alumni Center which I will retype here for your reading pleasure: . .The Alumni Center of Asheville City Schools 419 McDowell Street Asheville, North Carolina 28803 . . October 31, 2010 . . Mr. Jerry E.Warren, Chairman Lee H. Edwards Class of 1960 P.O. Box 1440 Pineville, NC 28134 . . Dear Jerry and Class of 1960 . Thank you so very much for your donation of $1,000 to the Alumni Center. It is the largest single donation by any class to date. The funds will be used towards
the items outlined in your
letter and our previous discussions, as well as to support the efforts to preserve the history of Asheville City Schools. . It was such a pleasure meeting many of the 1960 class members during your recent reunion, and we hope to see you again for many more in the future! . Your contribution will undoubtedly help make the Alumni Center a success! Please call the Center at (828)350-2800 if we may ever be of assistance and we
hope you and your classmates
will stop by the Center as time permits. . Thank you again! . . Sincerely, . . . Marcia & Tim Amos Alumni Center Volunteers . .
